* People who friend me whose names I recognize/have interests in common with/have interesting journals (one or all of the three).
* People I've met in real-life and clicked with.

If you don't fit into these categories, comment and say hi. I don't usually friend total strangers, so make yourself not a stranger. Or if that makes you uncomfortable, which, fair enough, lurk. I very very rarely lock my journal.
